OUR APPROACH
At Toyekola Elongo, we believe that improving education requires more than isolated interventions. We approach schools as learning ecosystems where teachers, students, school leadership, and communities all play an essential role. Our work focuses on strengthening teaching practices, supporting student learning, and improving the conditions that allow schools to thrive. Through collaboration with educators and local communities, we aim to build sustainable improvements in literacy, numeracy, and student engagement.
Our work is grounded in:
● education research
● data-informed instruction
● continuous professional development
● classroom observation and instructional coaching
● educational activities that support active learning and student engagement.
II. OUR OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Toyekola Elongo aims to foster meaningful and sustainable progress in literacy, numeracy, and student engagement in the schools we support.
Our work is built around five complementary pillars:
• Teacher professional development
• Organization of educational activities for students
• Improvement of the school learning environment
• Community engagement
• Structured monitoring of instructional practices and student learning
We believe that sustainable educational improvement requires continuous support, collaboration, and reflection within the school community.
Progress is monitored through:
• changes in classroom instructional practices
• active student participation and engagement
• teacher feedback and instructional coaching
• contextualized assessment tools conducted at 3, 6, and 12 months,
Impact is developed progressively with partner schools over a period of two to three years through an approach that views the school as a learning ecosystem involving teachers, students, school leadership, and the wider community.
Our long-term goal is to support schools in developing stronger instructional practices, improved learning conditions, and sustainable systems that promote student success over time.
